Civico 47 breathes new life into iconic terrace on Windsor Street

Paddington’s newest restaurant serves up an Italian revival, showcasing a unique style of cuisine inspired by tradition, delivered with a modern perspective.

Monday 14th March – CIVICO 47 (pronounced Chi-vico 47), led by Executive Chef Matteo Zamboni (Ormeggio, Pilu at Freshwater, Jonah’s), is set to open at 47 Windsor Street on Wednesday 23rd March.

After a complete renovation inspired by Italian summers, the venue has been transformed into a light-filled dining space, and a cosy bar, with a distinct Mediterranean feel. CIVICO 47 takes over the historic Windsor Street site that was previously Lucio’s, a Paddington institution for 40 years.

“Taking over this historic building is no mean feat,” said General Manager Andrew Donaghy.

“We have carefully created a menu and atmosphere that’s designed to make the space our own and we look forward to 47 Windsor Street becoming the regular dining spot once again.”

Zamboni has designed a menu that is refined, yet accessible, that is rooted in his Italian heritage. The offering showcases the best of Australian produce in a menu filled with seasonal inspiration.

“The menu is all about the flavours, seasonality and quality of the produce. Simple but skilled transformations of the ingredients combined with a strong Italian influence,” said Zamboni.

Highlights of the menu include the Housemade focaccina with Cutrera selezione evoo, Carpaccio with rocket, macadamia, vincotto & Brussel sprouts ($29), Mafalde with king prawn, bok choy & tomato ($35), Whole market fish with orange and saffron emulsion ($54) and the Chocolate & coffee budino with orange caramel ($18).

The name quite literally means house number in Italian with the intent being that Zamboni wanted CIVICO 47 to feel like home for its guests.

“I love this location, its history, the new decor, and the layout of the dining rooms. They give a comforting ambient vibe while dining at Civico,”

“The food is connected to the suburban location, it’s like going to friends for a special lunch or dinner.” says Zamboni.

CIVICO 47 can play host to everything from intimate catch ups to larger group bookings, with the bar area being able to be transformed into a semi-private dining space.

The wine list has been curated with a focus on Italian varietals and is well supported by a wide selection of wines from Australian and French regions. Civico’s cocktail list has something for everyone with a unique house list & classic cocktails on offer. Start your meal with an elegant selection of aperitivi and end your dining experience with an amaro from the digestivi menu, the perfect complement to the end of your meal.

CIVICO 47 opens on Wednesday 23rd of March and is located at 47 Windsor Street in Paddington. It is open for dinner Wednesday to Thursday from 6:00pm and from 12pm, Friday to Saturday. Bookings are available online via www.civico47.com
